Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Govt. Medical College & Hospital Mandi at Nerchowk H.P.

The Medical College at Ner Chowk was founded by Sh. Oscar Fernandes the hon’ble Labour & Employment Minister GOI in the year 2009. In the year 2012, Prof Dr D.S. Dhiman was appointed first Dean of the college by ESIC. In the year 2012-13, ESIC applied to MCI for inspection but the LOP could not be granted to ESIC on account of, various administrative reasons. In the year 2013-14 & 2014-15 the same situation prevailed.

In the year 2013 a blood donation camp was organised in the campus of ESIC with the help of an NGO and the same was inaugurated by Hon’ble Health Minister of H.P. Thakur Kaul Singh.

The building of ESIC was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Labour & Employment Minister G.O.I Hon’ble Oscar Fernandes alongwith Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Raja Virbhadra Singh Ji and in the auspicious presence of Thakur Kual Singh, Hon’ble Health & Revenue Minister, Sh. Anil Sharma Hon’ble RD & PR Minister and Sh. Prakash Chaudhary Hon’ble Excise Minister of Himachal Pradesh in May, 2014.

Situation :

Mandi Distt. is situated between “310 -13’- 50” and 320 -04-30” North Latitude and  760 -37’-20” &770 -2’-15” East longitude It is bounded by Kangra on North West, Hamirpur & Bilaspur in the West distinct Arki Tehsil of Solan Distt in the South, Shimla on the South West & Kullu Distt. in the East.

The District is entirely hilly except Balh & Chauntra of the distt. The area of Badar, Chohar, Saraj, Sonar usually have sufficient snowfall every year from December to February. The distt. receives the highest rainfall in H.P. with an average annual precipitation of 2029 mm.
